Raising Awareness of Sex Trafficking In Our Backyards
Local non-profit Awaken INC is hosting banquet fundraiser to raise awareness about this issue.
Reno, Nev. – Awaken INC announces its second annual “Rescue Reno- A benefit dinner to raise awareness of sex trafficking in our community” Thursday November 14 in the Capri Ballroom inside of the Peppermill.
“We want people to learn about the sex trafficking problem in the community,” said Awaken INC founder Melissa Holland, “It’s going to be a night filled with inspiring stories of girls we’ve helped. People need to know that prostitutes are victims”.
Registration will start at 5:30p.m.and the dinner and silent auction will start at 6p.m. The cost is $50 a seat, or $350 for a table of 8. The night will feature several speakers, dinner, and a silent auction near the conclusion of the evening. Most of the proceeds will go towards operating the Awaken safe house for the girls needing a secure place to start recovery. Other proceeds will go to care packages and therapy for all the victims who come to Awaken.
