Re-writings of website:

3 part mission:

Restoration:

Old: We have a long-term vision to create a restorative community. This will include: 1. A community of homes for survivors 2. Physical, mental and spiritual care 3. Education and employment opportunities 4. Transitional home(s) for those ready to be on their own.

Revised: We have a long-term goal to create a restorative community for sex trafficking survivors. Awaken believes in holistic healing including: housing, physical and spiritual care, access to education, and employment opportunities.

Rescue:

Old: We work closely with local law enforcement to help victims escape “the life”.
When a victim needs help, law enforcement contacts us and we are there to provide: 1. A safe place to stay while we plan the next steps 2. Food and clothing 3. LifePacks

Revised: Awaken works closely with law enforcement to help victims escape sex trafficking. Through this partnership we help provide LifePacks and safe houses.

Revival:

Old: Lasting change in the area of sex trafficking will only happen when our hearts are turned to Jesus. We pray that God would change our city into a place of healing and hope; a place of refuge and safety.

Vision:

Old: Awaken INC (In the Name of Christ) is a Christian human rights organization
based in Reno, seeking to combat the commercial, sexual exploitation and trafficking of women and children throughout Nevada. Our mission is two-fold: 1. Raise the Issues > Awareness: “It is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep.” In order to effectively advocate for social change, we seek to provide Nevadans with a comprehensive knowledge of the issues surrounding sexual exploitation and human trafficking, especially when under the guise of legalized prostitution. 2. Raise Your Voice

> Advocacy: “Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” We believe that the next step in seeing real change happen in our community, is by 1) actively engaging in prayer, asking God to use us, His people, to help bring rescue and restoration to those who are need; and 2) to lobby to our state government officials to enact and enforce laws that will protect the victim and hold their perpetrator accountable for their crimes.

awareness and advocacy, and in ensuring that each victim rescued from sexual
exploitation and human trafficking is properly cared for. Currently, we are
accepting donations that will go toward staffing Awaken INC and the future
purchasing and development of a safe house that will provide immediate relief,
restoration, and tools for reintegration into society.

The Professional Network (TPN) is a collaboration of volunteers, activists, prayer
warriors, intercessors, churches, counselors, doctors, nurses, photographers,
social workers, attorneys, law enforcement, tattoo artists, musicians, artists,
missionaries, business owners, stay-at-home mom’s, citizens, and freedom
fighters all expecting to win the fight against sex trafficking. We believe God is
raising up His army to take this city back and stand in the gap for these women

Revised: The Professional Network (TPN) is a collaboration of volunteers, including everyone from attorneys to freedom fighters on board to win this battle against sex trafficking. These professionals provide their services and talents to these victims free of charge, such as tattoo artists to provide free tattoo cover-ups as a part of the healing process, or attorneys providing free legal services for these women and children.
